Unknown Time: Days into cave

This place is... killing me.

I have no method of time keeping, as my only time keeper is missing: my family pocket watch. The scenery in here doesn't change, with the pool of water lying in front of me, a treasure trove of gold and diamonds down the way, and the glowing crystals speckling the walls.
They do not change in color or shade giving absolutely no distinct pattern in my solitude.

I'm filled with fear at what I saw in the pool, that tail... I think that is what it was. I wish I could have gotten a better look at it but it was far too quick.
But it's presence at my approach of the treasure has me on edge. Could it be the owner of the gold? And if so, could that have been a warning to keep me away.
I wish to stay from the water but the food I rely on appears a hair's width away from it's edge.
I wonder if they're from that same creature, is it feeding me out of kindness, or is it keeping me alive for when it is ready to dine?
What ever the case, I have resolved to stay from the water as best I can.

If this monster wishes my death, it would have to come to me itself.

Unknown Time: maybe a few hours later

I saw it! the creature in the water!

While asleep, the being had been foolish enough to lift it's head from the water, only a bit, but enough for me to see it's eyes.
Intelligent, gorgeous eyes that gazed up me with... something. Curiosity? Appraisal? What ever the case may be, they have me full of joy, so much that I almost want to look into the water to see them again...

What am I thinking? I should slap myself for what I have thought! There are stories of Sirens who sing or charm their way into the hearts and minds of men. The sailors would dive to their deaths in pursuit of the beauty.
what i am dealing with may be one of the creatures attempting to lure me in!
I will have none of that! From now on, I will forge my mind to think of only one thing that is truly beautiful: Gwendolyn.

At least a day later

I miss my pocket watch.

I feel the empty lining of my coat and think about home. I wonder how long I've been away...

Unknown Time: 1714

I'm not sure if I'm lucky or cursed. This cavern was filled with treasure!
After my last entry when I landed here, I noticed that fruit and all types of fish would arrive on shore where I was when I awoke first.
It happens too regularly. I will admit It feels like someone is watching me at times, maybe even bringing me food... but that's crazy talk. If not for the light in the cavern with the crystal and all, I would have never spotted firewood to cook the fish. And with the extra light from the fire, I found a stream going down the rocks on the opposite side of the cavern that was fresh and good to drink.
The only thing that this cavern seemed to lack was the sun a company it would appear.

But just the other day I discovered something that made my pirate heart skip.

I had discovered around the corner a gold doubloon, accompanied with a brilliant green emerald, one that I could not believe was real. Picking them up, I examined them carefully and after a few moments determined that they were indeed real.

To add to these jewels, i found hidden in between some rocks even more jewels! Worth more than the duke's jeweled blade! But before I could line my pockets, I heard a large splash as if some fell into the ocean water. I turned just in time to catch the sight of a pearly white tail enter the water and immediately dropped the loot in my hands, rushing toward the water then thinking better of it.

There were creatures in the Sea that men have yet to see, and some that have been. This could be some monster sent from Hell to devour me as I sleep! Or a siren, lulling me to the water to die. Or something else entirely?

I paced around in fear, wondering my fate in this deathly cavern. Eventually, I calmed down and sat next to the fresh water and began writing again.

I pray I live through this...
I'm starting to miss the surface.

First Day Alone 1714

I don't know how I survived. Luck maybe? Or am I already dead?
We only left port little over a week ago and I regret it bitterly already.
Once lost on that watery deathtrap we neglected to read the pattern of the winds, and the dangers they were spelling out for us.
The skies were clear and the wind was ripe as we made our way across the mid Atlantic. I watched my hard working crew take a much needed break from the constant struggle of keeping the Sea Wind on course. The wind was in our favor and the sea was quite calm.
We should have turned around.
You see a storm began to brew off to the side of our ship but no one thought anything of it, no doubt they were all focused on exploring the New World.
But the storm over took us like black death in a fury of harsh winds and monstrous waves, the likes of which filled myself with such fear I am surprised I had the sense to command my chaotic crew. Men ran all over the deck trying to avoid the waves that crashed down on the ship dragging a few down to the watery trap.
I fell a few times as I tried to regain control of my vessel and rally my quickly diminishing crew. I witnessed my childhood friend rush up to join me at the helm when the a wave rose from the skin of the sea dwarfing my tiny ship. Grey looked at me then the wall of water that began to drop onto the mast.
I yelled his name and reached out to grab his outstretched arm but it was too late, the wave came down, ripping the mast of the ship in half and dragging my friend down with it.
I had fallen backwards against the railing of the ship and was pretty sure I had broken a rib or two all as the boat began to sink into the churning waters.
My pocket watch fell out of my pocket and flashed a bolt of lightening into my eyes, temporarily blinding me.
I remember falling backwards over the railing and feeling the hard smack of the water under me. The suction of the sinking ship pulled me every which way at its own design. I began thirsting for air as my broken ribs caused me pain.
Then there was a strange sight. I don't know if it was because I was dying or not but I swear I saw a white tail flash near me and right before I passed out I remember feeling a hand on my own hand.
Then I woke up here, in this glowing cave half in the pool of salt water. Crystals are growing in this undersea cavern... At least I assume its under the sea. The crystals are glowing in all colors making this cavern quite welcoming. I'm too exhausted to explore this cave in depth, but I have the energy to write in the journal, at least I was smart enough to keep this in the lining of my coat.
But I have a few questions.
How did I get here? I was half in the water.
And why are my ribs okay now?
